(CNN)– Chick-fil-A is doing away with its “no antibiotics ever” promise. The fast food giant will now use the standard recognized by the USDA and the World Health Organization.
Chick-fil-A first pledged to never serve chicken that was fed antibiotics in 2014. The company cited diminishing chicken supply as the reason.
Tyson and Perdue recently made similar decisions. Antibiotic use in food production has come under intense scrutiny in recent years.
Certain bacterial infections have become increasingly treatment-resistant because of more frequent exposure to the drugs.
