COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–Halloween is here and while the holiday is filled with candy, costumes, and fun, it can also be dangerous for pedestrians and motorists.
To help keep everyone stay safe this Halloween, AAA is offering some tips for drivers, parents, and trick or treaters.
Drivers should, of course, slow down and watch for children in the street, especially if driving between 4pm and midnight.
Parents can also advise their kids to never cross the street mid-block or between parked cars, and be sure to trick or treat together, at least until your child is 12 years old.
AAA also recommends checking costume safety, such as having a reflective material attached to either the costume or candy bag, and carrying a flashlight to keep kids visible.
